What is CApoeira?

Capoeira was developed in Brazil by enslaved Africans during the 16th century as a creative form of resistance, cultural expression, and community.

Blending martial arts, movement, music, rhythm, and play, Capoeira created a way to strengthen the body, preserve culture, and resist oppression while disguised as dance.

Today, Capoeira continues to bring people together through movement, music, culture, and connection.

At Ginga, we believe every body can move...

There is no single “right” way to move, participate, or experience Capoeira.

Our classes are designed for people with disability and are adapted around each person’s strengths, needs, goals, preferences, and way of moving.

Whether you move standing, seated, with mobility equipment, with support, or in your own unique way, we work with you to make Capoeira accessible, enjoyable, and empowering.

Live music, rhythm, creativity, culture, and connection sit at the heart of every class.

Our classes help improve:

  • Motor skills and body awareness

  • Balance, strength, and coordination

  • Emotional expression and regulation

  • Confidence and self-esteem

  • Social skills and communication

  • Friendships and community connection

  • Rhythm and musicality

  • Self-expression

No NDIS plan is required to join Ginga. Our programs are open to all people with disability whether you are privately paying or using eligible NDIS funding.
